FAQ
Common questions about hotkeys, OCR, prompts, and multilingual workflows.
What is SnapAct?+−
SnapAct is a desktop AI assistant that lets you capture a screen region or use selected text via hotkeys, then run actions like translate, summarize, structure, and rewrite—fast, with one-click copy.
How does the hotkey workflow work?+−
Press a hotkey to capture a region or enter text mode, review/edit the input, trigger an AI action, then copy the result. Output streams in as it’s generated so you can start reading immediately.
Can I customize prompts and actions?+−
Yes. You can modify prompts to fit your workflow and use them to trigger different actions—for example translation, cleanup, key-point extraction, rewriting, or structured notes.
Which languages are supported?+−
The app is built for multilingual work. You can set a target language per task, and results depend on the model you use and your chosen prompt.
How much does it cost?+−
SnapAct is free to use for 14 days. For AI model calls, you can use providers that offer free-tier models. See the AI providers setup guide.
Does it work offline?+−
OCR runs locally using system APIs. AI actions require network access to call your configured OpenAI-compatible API endpoint (including self-hosted options).
How is my data handled?+−
Input content is only sent to the AI API endpoint you configured when you run an action. OCR uses local system capabilities. Avoid sending sensitive data to any model you don’t trust.
Is it available on macOS and Windows?+−
Yes. SnapAct supports macOS and Windows with a hotkeys-first workflow.
