Privacy Policy

Effective date: 2026-03-11

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how SnapAct (“SnapAct”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use:

  • Our marketing website at snapact.app and its pages (the “Website”).
  • Your SnapAct account area (the “Account”).
  • Our service APIs used by the desktop app, such as license activation/refresh and update checks (the “Service”).
  • The SnapAct desktop application for macOS and Windows (the “App”).

2. Information We Collect

Account information
  • Email address and basic profile info (such as display name) when you create an account.
  • Authentication/session information (for example, session tokens) and, where available, IP address and user agent for security.
License & device information
  • Device identifier, device name, platform (macOS/Windows), and optional OS/app version when the App activates or refreshes a license.
  • License key data is stored in a derived/hashed form on the Service (we do not store raw license keys).
  • Audit/security logs related to license operations, which may include IP address and user agent.
Website usage information
  • Basic request and device information (such as IP address and user agent) that may be recorded in standard server logs for security and reliability.
Support communications
  • If you contact us, we receive the content of your message and any information you choose to provide.
What we do not collect from the App
  • We do not receive your screenshots by default.
  • We do not receive OCR text or AI prompts/results unless you explicitly send them to us (for example, in a support message).
  • We do not receive your AI provider API key; it is configured and stored on your device.

3. Third-Party AI Providers

The App can call an OpenAI-compatible API endpoint you configure (for example, OpenAI or other compatible providers). When you run an AI action (such as translation), the text you submit (including OCR output) is sent from your device to that provider. That provider’s privacy policy and terms apply to their processing.

4. How We Use Information

  • Provide and maintain the Website, Account, and Service.
  • Authenticate users and keep accounts secure.
  • Issue, validate, and refresh license tokens; enforce device limits; and enable device management.
  • Provide update checks for the App.
  • Prevent abuse, troubleshoot issues, and improve reliability.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

5. How We Share Information

We may share information in these cases:

  • With service providers that operate our infrastructure (hosting, database, email delivery).
  • With payment providers if/when purchases are enabled (for example, to process a transaction and handle refunds/chargebacks).
  • When required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
  • In connection with a business transfer (e.g., merger, acquisition), subject to applicable law.

We do not sell your personal information.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide the services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. For example, license/device records and audit logs may be retained to prevent fraud and support account/device management.

7. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

8. Your Choices

  • You can manage devices associated with your license via the Account area.
  • You can stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the App and not using your account.
  • For account deletion or access requests, contact us using the details below.

9. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated policy on this page with a new effective date.
